bus

Postby marc » Tue Dec 15, 2009 11:22 am

Hi,

Gearbox keeps jumping out of 4th... grrr

Im looking for options for a new GBox without losing the current rear ride height of the van but maybe something thats a bit better for cruising.. Any advise?

Dont mind losing the reduction boxes but have read that a s/axle conversion will drop the back end more? Will adjusting the spring plates so the height is the same screw my camber?

help?

A few options...

1. Straight axle conversion with adjustable spring plates
2. Have your gearbox rebuilt (they're not available as exchange)
3. Do it properly and have an IRS conversion

Camber will always be an issue with straight axle conversions as the wheels move up and down in an arc. THe only way to go low with no camber is an irs conversion.

Cheers Ian,

Would - Straight axle conversion with adjustable spring plates - keep my camber ok? I think losing the RBs would drop the back end abour 2 1/2" roughly. If I was to adjust the spring plates to lift the back end up to the current ride height would it still be roughly like it is now? (if you get me :? )

I wouldnt say my bus was slammed, but its not stock either...
