After having to deal with a flooding workshop which left every part of the chassis and the bulkhead covered in rust plus far too much tat leaving no room to work the game is finally afoot!
Well, after a little spurt of buying bits for the car we're back in the game.
I picked up a new laminated windscreen for it a couple of weeks ago and it turned out to be the only one in the country. ;D
Next week should finally see delivery of a pair of Cobra Monaco Pro seats in grey, at last something to sit on. ;D
For indicators this car originally had semaphores, this just wouldn't do in modern traffic. The fronts were easy to sort but the rears have been giving me a bit of trouble. Eventually I tracked down some indicators that match the tail lights so now it was just down to fitting them.
In my never ending quest to make life difficult for myself I did it like this...
Start of with a couple of bits of tube with ends welded to them...

Very carefully mark the wing, theres only one shot at this as the wings are integral, and then chain drill around the edges....

Cut out the middle and then carefully file until the light pod fits...

Make sure it's all square and then tack into place...

Then repeat for the other side.... ;D

I'll fit the lights next week.

Meanwhile a variety of people have been popping in and slowly baremetalling the chassis rails ready for some paint. The bulk of it was done by my boy Steve and a good friend & ex club member, Carl, who I hadn't seen for five years. Steve arranged for him to come out to play this weekend and put him to work...

Much cleaning, prepping and brushing later it looks much better..

Meanwhile I gave Steve his first welding lesson and it went just fine with no melted fingers!
A very proud moment...

More very soon.. ;D
