 | Introducing our Sponsors - Status VW parts: 10% Discount for all club members - Tel: 0870 143 1445 www.status-vw.co.uk We sort of fell into STATUS VW PARTS due to the restoration of Freddie - 1972 1303 - (14.5K felt a bit of a rip-off) - all there was about was crap quality stuff or Genuine stuff at stupid prices. I had just imported the '64 cabrio from a guy in the states who had a warehouse full of stuff. So we took the plunge and bought him out (cars, parts, warehouse and all). We started importing stuff from the warehouse in 1998 and throughout 1999. We then started looking into new parts and having stuff re-manufacturered. Again, everything where possible had to be Genuine VW or equivalent quality. We are still resident in our warehouse here in the UK, but have extinguished all the cars and stuff in the USA. We continue to expand our stock and are always on the look-out for new parts and new products. From our humble beginnings just over 5 years ago in a 3m x 4m gazebo, we now have upto 9m x 30m marquees at the big events. My own collection of cars had grown to, the earliest a 1952 Split Window Bug - unrestored and very original, only 44,000 kms from new (hardly run-in!). The 1964 Cabrio which is STILL in thousands of pieces. The 1972 1303 (fred). The 1983 Limited Edition 'Aubergine' Mexican Beetle - a regular concours winner a few years back and finally a 1997 1600i Mexican Beetle which is my daily ride. I have also owned a 1965 Karmann Ghia, a 1955 Oval Cabrio, and a 1965 Split Screen Panel Van with twin side loading doors (I should never have sold that!). So, what the future holds I don't know, but I do know we'll be expanding our range even more, supplying more parts to more people - tomorrow the world! Perhaps we might even buy out VW... Barclay |
